Distribution and habitat
Various biotops from the surroundings of Pucallpa, Peru, along the Rio Ucayali and the Rio Amazonas to Leticia, Colombia.
Its many specialized developments indicate an ecological specialization. The description of the habitats presumes an adaptation by the fish to floating vegetation.
This surface orientation is supported by aquarium observations.
